Source Energy Services is currently seeking experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic for shift work in their Grande Prairie, AB shop.
They are looking for individuals with a hardworking attitude, who have working knowledge of tools and mechanics. Individuals must be self-motivated and adaptable to change.
Job Description
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will complete both preventative and remedial maintenance to the range of equipment used by Source Trucking. This will ensure the tractors, trailers and support equipment run efficiently and can operate as intended.
Duties include servicing, repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, testing, and documenting equipment conditions.
The position will be based out of the shop in Grande Prairie, Alberta and will be on a shift rotation, day shift only. A travel allowance for non-local to Grande Prairie candidates will be provided.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment related issues. Includes, but not limited to, on highway tractors and trailers, and diesel engines.
- Repairs, services, and adjusts, air systems, drive train, brake components, suspension, emission components, and 12 volt electrical.
- Performs inspections and completes documentation as necessary to comply with regulatory and company requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment based on OEM recommendations and maintenance department direction
- Follow OEM/service manual procedures when necessary
- Document and update service records of equipment to maintain a historical record
- Record parts used and assist with part sourcing and ordering along with general shop organization
- Other duties as required
Who They're Looking For:
- Journeyman certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a mechanical capacity with exposure to both field and shop work
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot a variety of equipment related
issues
- Familiar with standard repair procedures and industry practices
- Can read electrical prints and technical data sheets
- Exposure to on-highway tractors and trailers, heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and mechanical components
- Additional experience in oilfield, sand or industrial work is an asset
- Self-starter with the ability to proactively manage workload
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be able to meet deadlines and successfully handle time pressures and stress
- Ability to hold valid tickets including: First Aid, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, TDG
- Able to pass pre-employment drug, alcohol and fit suitability testing
- Valid Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License with clean driving record
