What Suncor is Hiring for:

Do you have strong financial accounting and analytical skills?  Are you a self-starter, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet reporting and filing deadlines?

As a key member of the Oil Sands accounting team, you will support financial accounting and reporting for Suncor’s Oil Sands business. In this position you will continually seek greater knowledge of the Oil Sands Business and provide key support in the analysis and reporting of financial information to both internal and external stakeholders. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics
  • 10 years of relevant oil and gas experience
  • A recognized accounting designation (CA, CPA, CMA, CGA) with a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles
  • Previous experience with complex accounting principles including asset retirement obligations, reserves reporting and impairment testing.
  • Previous joint venture experience considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with SAP/BW, SAP analytics cloud program and Microsoft suite of tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven success in business partnering outside of finance team      
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support in analyzing monthly results and investigating issues
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly deliverables for joint venture partners
  • Coordination of quarterly joint venture audit committee meetings
  • Collaborate with business partners on annual complex accounting processes including impairment testing, asset retirement obligation updates and reserve reporting.
  • Support joint venture audits.

Location and other Key Details: 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 –6th Ave S.W. 
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
  • Depending on the nature of the role, we have implemented a Hybrid Work Model to provide.
