Safety Boss is looking for experienced Industrial Safety Watch, Medics (EMRs, OFA3s), Fire Fighters, and H2S Supervisors for projects taking place throughout Alberta & British Columbia.

If new to the industry / newly licensed (Medic, Fire) on the job training will be provided. Candidates applying for H2S Supervising + coming with previous industrial safety watch experience will be considered.

Hiring full time and flex. Positions that are flex (part time/seasonal) have the ability to meet full time hours depending on project placement and client specific rotations. Minimum 12 hour shifts (day/night), accommodations provided (camp/hotel – project dependent).

Short and long term projects available, prior experience is preferred. Candidates must have up to date job specific certificates in order to be dispatched (see below for further details).

Mandatory for all positions:

  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence with 3 + years of driving experience
  • Submission of a 5 Year Commercial Driver’s Abstract (pulled within the last 30 days)
  • H2S Alive (Energy Safety Canada)
  • Common Safety Orientation (Energy Safety Canada)
  • First Aid Standard Level C (Intermediate)
  • Gas Detection & Monitoring – can be completed in house
  • A pre-employment drug screening will be required for successful applicants

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret information given, learn and apply new skills
  • Ability to travel areas of Alberta and BC for extended periods of time on an ongoing basis
  • Possess strong leadership, team player, and self-starter skills with the ability to learn and teach new proficiencies
  • Fluent in Industry Recommended Practices, local, provincial, federal regulatory requirements
  • Effectively handle and respond to stressful/emergency situations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills (written, verbal, and listening)
  • Adhere to SBI Standard Operating Procedures and Expectations
  • Maintain Cleanliness of all SBI equipment and Vehicles

Position Specific Requirements:

Safety Watch

  • Experience with air trailer operations, confined space watch, spark watch and area monitoring.
  • Job related safety tickets ex) fall pro, confined space, gas detection & monitoring, respiratory protection etc.

H2S Safety Supervisor

  • Register as an NSC Driver + maintain a driving log
  • Haul, set up, and operate breathing air trailers
  • Previous rig experience preferred
  • Familiar with Gas Detection & Monitoring Systems - Mesh Guard / OTIS System set up and trouble shooting

Medics (OFA3, EMR)

  • OFA3 or EMR Certificate + proof of provincial registration if EMR
  • Experience in an industrial atmosphere preferred
  • Provide medical care in accordance with the scope of practice/SBI protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient care areas
  • Follow SBI Safe Work Practices and Hazard ID Procedures
  • Coordinate STARS where necessary
  • Documentation of daily headcounts and paperwork submissions

Fire Fighters

  • NFPA 1001 or 1081 Certificate
  • Class 3 Driver License w/ Q brake endorsement is an asset
  • Experience in an Industrial atmosphere preferred
