What Patterson-UTI is Hiring for:

The Safety Audit & Compliance Training Manager will be responsible for execution of the internal Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) audit program as well as ensuring consistent delivery and application of safety compliance training standards across the organization. The role is responsible for the design, plan, implementation, and monitoring of quality safety compliance training programs that improve efficiency and effectiveness of all Operations and Operations Support related positions. This position will conduct HSE audits throughout the organization, assemble audit findings into reports, and actively participate in improving auditing tools and processes. The position will be required to collaborate with Leadership assess ongoing and future training needs as well as the effectiveness of established programs. This position works under the direction of the Director, HSE Compliance & Audit.Detailed Description:

  • Comply with all Company and customer Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, rules, practices, and guidelines
  • Assess safety compliance training needs for the Company
  • Design training plans to support the Company’s training requirements and goals; training may include, but is not limited to: Forklifts, Aerial Lifts, Overhead Cranes, Fall Protection, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, and other instructor led technical and safety compliance training. 
  • Establish training evaluation measures to ensure training program(s) success
  • Research effective training methods and utilize technology/industry trends to create successful in-house training programs
  • Manage and direct safety compliance training team members
  • Partner with Operations and Operations Support to develop training programs for appropriate personnel
  • Oversee the execution of instructor-led Safety orientation and training for new hires, including driver training, safe work practices, and possible hazards in the workplace
  • Partner with regional Human Resources (HR) and Technical Training personnel to implement district new hire training schedules
  • Drive compliance training quality and operational standards consistently throughout the Company
  • Create valuable compliance training metrics to report out to the organization & identify performance trends
  • Conduct compliance audits to ensure training courses are being delivered consistently throughout the organization
  • Creates & distribute monthly training reports to ensure training compliance
  • Ensure training material are documented within the management system and all training material are aligned and up to date
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of the Company’s training processes, procedures, and activities to assure the most effective compliance training
  • Conduct HSE audits of fracturing, cementing, and District operations to ensure proper implementation and compliance
  • Assist Districts in the development of audit action plans and the implementation of corrective actions associated with gaps and deficiencies
  • Track audits performed, up-keep audit scores and other metrics
  • Recommend improvements to the audit materials and auditing processes

Job Requirements:

  • Possess advanced computer skills in Microsoft (MS) Office and working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of safety training programs and safety regulations, requirements, and applicable laws
  • Understanding of HSE regulatory compliance requirements (OSHA, EPA and DOT rules and regulations) and the application within the hydraulic fracturing and cementing industry
  • Ability to run reports and take ownership of training initiatives from start to finish
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered
  • Ability to maintain Company and employee confidentiality at all times, handle sensitive employee information and protect Company proprietary information in an appropriate manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills which include the ability to speak, write and listen in a manner that clarifies issues, promotes closure, and delivers information in a clear and concise manner and facilitates good decision-making
  • Skilled at preparing and conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
  • Ability to effectively coach and train others
  • Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and relationship skills to work effectively in a cross functional, matrixed organization and with all levels of employees, customers and third parties
  • Willing to travel as needed to other offices and work sites, occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area
  • Ability to safely navigate work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) and while utilizing designated personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Willing to work extended hours outside of a normal work schedule

Supervisory Responsibilities: YES

  • The selected individual will have direct reports, including several of which work remotely

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in Environmental, Engineering, HSE Sciences, or related field of study) with 7+ years’ experience in a safety training and/or compliance related role and/or field related Oil & Gas industry position with training responsibilities; OR High school diploma or GED certificate with 10+ years’ experience in a safety training and/or compliance related role and/or field related Oil & Gas industry position with training responsibilities
  • Experience assessing employee progress based on training and identified competencies
  • 2+ years’ experience in position of management or supervisory role
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing training curriculum
  • Experience delivering Leadership training to front line managers and senior level management
  • Must have and maintain valid state-issued driver’s license, be eligible to drive a Company vehicle and meet the requirements of the Company’s vehicle program, policy and/or guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pressure Pumping industry knowledge and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting pressure pumping equipment
