Job Title: Operations/Business Analyst

Location: Midland, TX - Regional Office

Brief Description

The Business Analyst will primarily assist and support regional Drilling Operations by conducting procurement and purchasing activities, financial analysis and metrics reporting for rig operations, capital projects, and critical parts inventory, as well as assist with special project management, inventory controls, budgeting and insuring compliance with internal controls. The individual will work closely with Field Operations, Technical Services, Warehouse, Project Managers, Accounts Payable and Supply Chain to ensure that company policy and procedures are followed and executed as required.

The Analyst reports to the Manager Business Analytics PDC and supports Drilling Operations, Technical Services, and other company departments as required.

Detailed Description

  • Work in collaboration with Operations, Technical Service Group, Equipment & Yard Supervisors, and Supply Chain in support of field operations.
  • Procurement planning, ordering, tracking and reporting of parts and equipment needed to maintain proper level of inventory for ongoing capital projects and field operations.
  • Actively negotiate pricing and delivery schedule of equipment and material from approved vendors.
  • Serve as primary point of vendor contact for Technical Service Group, monitor delivery schedules and coordinate dispute resolution as required.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Supply Chain in vendor sourcing, negotiations, pricing agreements and performance reviews.
  • Create Purchase Orders for capital projects and Critical Parts Inventory in accordance with company policy.
  • Document and track approved non-PO parts and material orders for Technical Service Group.
  • Assist in Capital Budget and project planning, prepare project cost variance reports, initiate supplemental AFE’s as required and coordinate closure of capital projects.
  • Provide project status updates pertaining to purchases and delivery of equipment and material.
  • Monitor approved supplier utilization, provide KPI metrics pertaining to internal and external technician utilization and spend, and other cost analytics as required.
  • Prepare OpenInvoice weekly AP Aging & Approval analysis and cost metrics.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with other internal and external departments, as well as vendors to meet business needs and improve efficiencies.

  • Ability to safely navigate on work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) including proper use of designated personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls
  • Occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds to 50 pounds.  Exert 50 pounds of force regularly, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects and materials
  • Specific vision abilities required include accurate close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus between near, far, overhead and moving objects
  • Read, write, and speak English to the extent needed to understand verbal and written instructions and to give clear verbal and written instructions in English to direct rig employees and third parties as well as communicate with Customer representatives
  • Microsoft Office computer skills (Excel, Work & PowerPoint)

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field of study.
  • 2+ years of business, procurement or inventory management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of procurement experience.
  • Inventory Management experience.

Additional Details:

This position requires the person to be able to work in a time sensitive, high visible role and regularly travel as needed to support business units and visit work sites.  It may also require extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) during variable hours.  Variable work hours including hours worked on weekends, on holidays, and hours to travel within and outside of the assigned region. They must work with an emphasis on providing timely customer response and have the ability to multitask and prioritize to maximize efficiency of the team. Must be able to work closely with others and manage customer interaction in a professional manner.  Ability to safely navigate work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) and while utilizing designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
