Power Tong Operator in Red Deer, AB (Up to $16,000/mth + Benefits)

As a Power Tong Operator for ProTorque Connection Technologies Ltd., you are to reliably and accurately make-up casing or handle and circulate casing while power tongs make it up.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $5,000.00-$16,000.00 per month

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all company policies and safety practices
• Abide by all site-specific safety practices, rules and orientations
• Be ready to produce all valid and mandatory safety certificates upon request at all times
• Practice good housekeeping and work ethic in all work/shop locations
• Properly maintain and keep clean, all equipment, property and vehicles
• Obey all traffic laws and drive responsibly at all times
• Demonstrate punctuality by arriving on time and fit for duty
• Preform all job duties that include rebuilding and properly tagging and filling out maintenance paperwork and updating equipment logs
• Ensure all equipment is in good working order and that consumables are fully stocked
• Know how your equipment works and how to maintain it properly
• Knowledge of all connection running procedures, torque tables and API standards
• Know how to use the Power Tong casing running system and be able to correctly complete a job from start to finish while providing all specification data upon request
• Work together with tong hands and other service companies to provide the best service possible
• Communicate with consultants to gather information in making the job run as smoothly and efficiently as possible
• Provide our expert knowledge of tubular running services to all ProTorque customers
• Build and maintain good customer relations
• Rebuild and maintain equipment using the approved Power Tong manuals in the efforts to uphold our service and maintenance schedules
• Load and complete all pre / post / on the jobs paperwork as pertains to the job at hand
• Follow and uphold all hazard identifications of the tool and accurately communicate to the driller the importance of following our procedures when using the Power Tongs
• Follow all procedures regarding Power Tongs Rig-in / Running / Rig-out to ensure the safety of all personal involved
• Report all incidents to Dispatch or your Supervisor immediately and let them determine if the incident needs immediate attention or if it can be dealt with at a later date

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Drivers license with a ProTorque approved driver abstract
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess valid H2S, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG and CSO safety certificates
• Previous work experience in the oil and gas industry would be an asset
• Basic computer skills would be an asset
• Mechanically skills would be an asset
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional communication both written and verbal
• Interpersonal skills are an asset for explaining your job needs
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
• Ability to handle monotonous work for long periods of time
• Superior work ethic and an ability to perform in a leadership role
