Compensation: $969-$1,044 per day
Schedule: 14/14 hitch rotation, 12-hour days
Job Overview
The primary responsibility of a Ballast Control Operator (BCO) is to manage the ballast and fluid transfer operations to ensure the stability and trim of an offshore facility.
Responsibilities
- Prepare daily stability reports.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance.
- Ensure stability of the offshore facility by monitoring marine-related operations, systems, equipment, and environmental conditions.
- Manage ballast and fluid transfer operations.
- Demonstrate personal leadership in process and occupational safety.
- Ensure compliance with Health Safety Security & Environment (HSSE) standards and practices.
- Perform duties of an Issuing Authority (IA) or Performing Authority (PA) as per competency level.
- Complete weight shift and center of gravity calculations.
- Provide marine input to projects and turnaround (TAR) preparation.
- Ensure maintenance routines and defects are recorded and resolved.
- Monitor, reorder, and track supply levels of production chemicals, critical spares, and materials.
- Ensure shift and crew-change handovers are accurately recorded.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
- Participate in root-cause failure investigations.
- Maintain technical integrity of instrument equipment and maintenance standards.
- Engage in coaching and sharing technical knowledge with team members.
- Review and track performance objectives and progress.
- Comply with GoM competency requirements and regulatory competence requirements.
- Act as a member of the emergency response team and participate in emergency response exercises.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Proficiency in ballast and fluid transfer operations, vessel maneuvering, hull and deck management, lifting appliances, air, water, ventilation, and emergency equipment and systems.
- Strong understanding and implementation of HSSE standards.
- Dedicated and motivated to ensure safe, reliable operations.
- Capable of implementing vision and values and managing performance.
- In-depth understanding of certification, maintenance, and safety standards.
Certifications
- USCG BCO License
- Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
- Medical Certificate – OGUK, TWIC, or other
- H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) Awareness and Safety Training
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Emergency Response Training
- Confined Space Entry Training
- Permit to Work (PTW) System Training
- Environmental Awareness Training
Contract Length
1-year contract with a high likelihood of extension or conversion to full-time employment.
