Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
• Design various mechanical systems typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, process piping, conveying systems, dust collection, general plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems.• Prepare design calculations and equipment specifications typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, bulk solids conveyors, dust collection equipment, bins/tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and other process equipment.• Perform detailed technical bid analyses for equipment typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities. • Generate and check design deliverables such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.• Support the construction team including representing the design team on-site, answering RFI’s, providing creative design solutions, etc.• Coordinate with other design partners (both internal and external) including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project or task and review work progress and results.• Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.• Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout/arrangement.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year university.
Certificates & Licences
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
Experience
• A minimum of 3 years of industry related engineering experience.
Knowledge & Skills
• Proficient in basic computing programs including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).• Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent). • Regular, reliable attendance• Work productively and meet deadlines timely• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
