What Government of Alberta is Hiring for:

We are looking to hire a Maintenance Service Worker (MSW2). This is a front-line role responsible for providing operational support at Fish Creek Provincial Park (FCPP). You would directly contribute to the successful maintenance of park infrastructure through both preventative and demand maintenance in collaboration with the broader maintenance team, and various partners and stakeholders. Responsibilities may be assigned elsewhere in the Kananaskis Region.In this role, you will:

  • Perform general maintenance activities as directed. This includes, but is not limited to: snow removal, landscaping, facility maintenance, trails maintenance, and repairing utility services for all Parks owned infrastructure as assigned. 
  • Operate various pieces of equipment including snow removal equipment, and various hand tools.
  • Maintain detailed service records as required.

The successful candidate will be expected to work outside in inclement weather conditions, with safety being a key consideration.Safety boots and appropriate clothing to work outside for extended periods in all weather is the responsibility of the candidate. Other safety equipment will be supplied.Please note that this temporary position has an approximate end date of March 31st, 2023. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Some High School education
  • 1 year of related experience
  • A minimum of a Class 5 Graduated Driver’s License is required, with a full Class 5 license preferred. Successful applicants will be expected to provide an acceptable driving abstract upon commencement.

High School Graduation with Post-Secondary studies is Preferred (currently attending is acceptable).Assets:

  • Familiarity and expertise with using equipment such as hand tools, chainsaws, tractors, and light duty trucks
  • Physically able to perform the duties as assigned.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, including during times of inclement weather.
  • Good communication skills and work well independently or in a team setting
  • A strong mechanical aptitude
  • Interest in the natural environment and/or environmental studies

Salary

$22.75/ hour to $ 27.58/hourWage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

Notes

This is a seasonal, 40 hours per week, wage position.This is a temporary wage position with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2023.
