Maintenance Electrician $23-$25/hr

The Maintenance Electrician will Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical and electronic equipment and distribution systems involving electrical work of a broad nature including knowledge of digital analog circuitry.  Diagnose and maintain complex electrical systems, repair, and replace all electrical apparatus. Performs other tasks as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, lays out, installs, and repairs complex wiring circuits and distribution systems to applicable codes.
• Installs and maintains complex electrical and electronic components of varied equipment.
• Diagnoses and maintains complex electrical troubles and repairs and replaces all electrical apparatus.
• Works on secondary voltage equipment.
• Performs minor work in other areas as needed.
• Coordinates with mechanical group as needed.
• Prepares and enters work orders in FAMIS.
• Works from complex wiring diagrams, code books, and similar documents.
• Operates production equipment to check work as required.
• Other requirements as listed in the Maintenance Skill curriculum for electricians.
• Installs/programs/repairs programmable logic controllers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and National Electrical Code.
• Knowledge of electrical principles.
• Working knowledge of digital and analog circuitry.
• Understand different characteristics of Wye and Delta connections on motors and transformers.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of mathematics to perform advanced computations.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to be comfortable and safety conscious when operating machinery.
• Knowledge of use and repairs on PLC control systems.
• Ability to use all required electrical tools, measuring and testing equipment.
• Ability to use FAMIS or other CMMS software.

Requirements:

• High School Graduate or GED
• Two years of experience, direct electrical experience in an industrial environment and working experience with three phase AC drives, DC drives, and programmable controllers.  Knowledge of the National electric Code is required.  Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems is required.
• Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight (>50 lbs) Examples: grounds staff and EMS.
• Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights. Examples: mail clerks, material handlers and food service workers.

$23.00-$25.00 DOE
