What Acden is Hiring for:

Acden Lemax is seeking Journeyperson Welders to join its team in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

We have local positions available at our Town Shop located in the Leo Robert Industrial Park. The shift rotation is seven (7) on, seven (7) off, working 12-hours rotating day and night shifts. No transportation or bussing will be provided. Hours, schedules, and locations may change from time to time due to operational and training requirements.

What Are the Requirements for Employment?

  • Alberta Certified Journeyperson or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
  • Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset
  • Valid Common Safety Orientation (CSO) certificate
  • Successfully complete comprehensive pre-employment testing
  • Eligible to work on all Oil Sand sites within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
  • Must be physically fit, positions involve extensive walking, carrying heavy materials, climbing and awkward positions
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certificate is an asset

What Does a Day as a Welder Look Like?

  • Reading and Interpreting blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Working inside our insulated building all year around
  • Fabricating worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers using:
  • TIG (tungsten inert gas) /GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding)
  • MIG (metal inert gas) /GMAW (gas metal arc welding)
  • SMAW (shielded metal arc welding)
  • Repair heavy equipment used for mining (buckets)
  • Working alongside different tradespeople such as Machinists, Mechanics, Millwrights
  • Operate manual or semi- automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces
