Journeyperson Welders Wanted: $50.88 to $58.00 Per Hour, Overtime, 4 & 3 w/10hr Shifts, Pension & More

The role. We are seeking a full time, permanent Journeyperson Welder to join our Maintenance Department. This position reports to the Maintenance Lead for their given area and may transition throughout the different areas of production in order to be well versed with all Mill equipment.

Role and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate positive safety behaviors in the Road to Zero journey
• Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot machinery, mechanical, and pressure equipment.
• Development, improvement and adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
• Completing work orders with descriptive detail of actual work performed.
• Entry of work requests for initiation of work to be conducted.
• Willingness to work additional overtime at area outages, major shutdowns, and subsequent start-ups in alignment with department average.
• Active member of Capital Project Team where you will represent the needs of your department.
• Accepting of changes to roles and responsibilities to suit changing business needs.
• Additional duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Alberta Certified or Out of Province Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certified Journeyperson Welder.
• B-Pressure Certification will be considered an asset.
• 3-5 years of Journeyperson experience will be considered an asset.
• Competency in reading and understanding technical documents including drawings, schematics, service manuals.
• Strong technical abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Preparation and organizational skills required to effectively plan and execute assigned work.
• Leader in Safety awareness and positive mentorship to peer.
• Strong understanding of the influence maintenance has to other departments within the mill.
• Pulp Mill and Industrial Maintenance experience preferred.
• Background in preventative maintenance practices will be considered an asset.

• Compensation is based on experience, qualifications and competency with a hourly rate range of $50.88-58.00, plus a 5% Average Regular Premium (ARP), with overtime being paid at double the hourly rate. You will also start with three weeks (120 hours) of annual vacation, prorated based on your start date.
