APE Maintenance is Hiring Heavy Duty Mechanics & Millwrights
- Location: North Fort McMurray (Local Only – No Camp or Flights Available)

1. Heavy Duty Mechanic
Role Summary: Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for the safe troubleshooting and repair of heavy mining equipment including Wiggle Wagons, Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, and Excavators. As part of APE’s maintenance team, you will help support and execute the company’s maintenance plan while promoting a strong safety culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair various large mining equipment
- Support shovel maintenance teams as needed
- Complete FLHAs before every job or when job conditions change
- Perform maintenance in accordance with OEM standards and industry best practices
- Accurately record repairs and work performed
- Communicate progress with supervisors and report incidents, damages, or near misses
- Additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Red Seal / Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Safety certifications: CSTS/OSSA/BSO/CSO, Fall Arrest, Overhead Crane, Basic Rigging, Aerial Work Platform, WHMIS, Mask Fit
- Asset: Man Basket and Picker Truck training
- Strong safety record and ability to work independently or within a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
2. Millwright
Role Summary: Millwrights at APE install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. This role demands practical skill and journey-level knowledge to support operational uptime and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, hydraulics, and bearings
- Execute preventative and predictive maintenance
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings
- Inspect and analyze equipment for malfunctions
- Provide recommendations for maintenance improvements
- Ensure FLHAs are completed before each job or if the job scope changes
- Report all incidents, damage, or near misses
- Communicate with supervisors to align with operational goals
Qualifications:
- Red Seal / Journeyman Millwright certification
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Safety certifications: CSTS/OSSA/BSO/CSO, Fall Arrest, Overhead Crane, Basic Rigging, Aerial Work Platform, WHMIS
- Asset: Vibration analysis skills
- Strong safety record and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
