What Tundra Oil & Gas Ltd. is Hiring for:

Tundra is seeking an Instrumentation Technician/PLC Programmer based out of our Virden, Manitoba office.

This position will be responsible to perform instrumentation related tasks safely and efficiently with a continuous improvement in mind.

Reporting to the Instrumentation Coordinator, some specific duties and responsibilities of the Instrumentation Technician include, but are not limited to:

·         Monitoring, benchmarking and evaluating technology and field instruments in order to ensure proper operation, continuous improvements and reliability.

·         Coordinating and effecting the monitoring, installation, service, and reconditioning of a variety of equipment, instruments and control systems.

·         Performing repairs, installations and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation.

·         Performing operational checks, monitoring performance, troubleshoot and related maintenance to identify and diagnose process and equipment issues.

·         Optimizing performance of equipment by monitoring the effectiveness and making corrective recommendations regarding instrumentation and electronic performance problems

·         Coordinate and oversee field activities/installations being performed by other contractors.

·         Participate in upgrades of existing facilities (e.g. injection/disposal well conversions, battery improvements, etc.).

·         Other related duties as required.

 

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

 

·         Instrumentation Technician Trade Certificate or Diploma.

·         A valid driver’s license

·         Knowledge of instrument/electrical maintenance and repair.

·         Knowledge of PLC’s and HMI’s with ability to read and write code.

·         Knowledge of VFD’s and related control wiring schemes.

·         Knowledge of communications protocols and related wiring, TCP/IP, ControlNet, Modbus, CANBus.

·         Knowledge of Industrial Radio communications systems, namely in the 900Mhz and 5.2Ghz range.

·         Accountability for accuracy and high quality of work performed.

·         Demonstrated strong communication skills, verbal and written.

·         High attention to detail.

·         Sound decision making skills.

·         Strong team player.

·         Safety conscious.

·         Oil and Gas experience an asset.

·         The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.

·         Work under pressure with tight deadlines and attention to detail.

·         Some exposure to inclement weather

·         Ability to work overtime as necessary and be subject to call-outs, including response to emergency situations or after hour breakdowns/repairs.

·         Ensure safe work practices are being followed.

·         Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra’s Safety Policy.
