Responsibilities:
- Review work performed by electrical assembly department on shop floor.
- Test electrical systems using tools that include but not limited to voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring.
- Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and the steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electric Code, (NEC) as well as specific job requirements.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems on new or existing equipment.
- Responsible for executing instructions per the Production Supervisor.
- Assists in enforcing standards and complying with regulations.
- Reports defective material or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements.
- Report all violations of safety policies to immediate supervisor.
- Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedule with minimum supervision.
- Complete and record documentation as required by specific jobs.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the installation of industrial electric wiring, instrumentation, VFDs, MCCs, controls control valves in a shop fabrication facility.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in controls wiring
- Minimum of 3 years as a current, license registered journeyman electrician with the state
- Industrial HVAC, energy service contracting or central chilled water plant experience.
- Power generation plant experience, particularly with gas turbines
- Experience with large industrial power units, chillers, and chiller systems.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Knowledge of industry codes and standards: NEC, IEC, UBC, IBC, etc.
- Strong knowledge of industry "best practices" relating to electrical power distribution systems.
- Strong Leadership skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams and wiring diagrams and assist in the checking procedure for the same.
- Basic computer skills
- ISO-9000, LEAN and/or Six Sigma background with ability to develop processes and procedures for electrical work.
- Familiarity with various testing practices such as Loop Tests, Point to Point Tests, Function Tests, etc.
