Banister Pipelines Limited Partnership (Banister) is a leading pipeline construction company based in Nisku, Alberta servicing the Canadian market since 1948. Banister is seeking an Environmental Manager to work on a major construction project located near Chilliwack British Columbia. Duration of the assignment is from December 2022 to approximatley September 2023.

Role Description

The Environmental Manger (EM) is a field-based role and reports to the Superintendent. The principal responsibility of the EM is the implementation of the Construction Environmental Execution Plan (CEEP) in conjunction with ensuring compliance with the Environmental Reference Documents (ERDs) and other relevant documents, commitments, and regulatory conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction execution to ensure environmental performance and compliance in all aspects of the work
  • Ensure Project environmental compliance is a key component of the planning process
  • Liaise with the TMEP Representatives to maintain effective reporting procedures and resolution of environmental non-compliances, events, and deficiencies that may arise during construction
  • Upon request, support TMEP on selected permit applications and regulatory inspections, reporting, and information requests
  • Oversee the publishing, distribution and communication of the CEEP
  • Resolve environmental conflicts and constraints encountered during construction, including initiation of environmentally related Requests for Information (RFIs), Management of Change (MOCs) and Environmental Field Change Requests (EFCRs) as required
  • Provides for the implementation and operation of the CEEP to ensure that responsibilities are assigned; the Environmental Team is trained, aware and competent; and that there is proper communication, documentation, operational control and emergency preparedness and response
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining environmental reports (i.e., monthly reports, regulatory reporting, etc.) as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) from a recognized College or University
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience or equivalent in the petroleum and/or environmental industry
  • Well versed in environmental compliance applicable to the pipeline industry
