What Cameco Corporation is Hiring for:

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, you will be responsible for long term mine planning and support of studies and projects. This includes being the mine planning and scheduling lead for the delivery of underground long term mine planning work packages, focusing on development and production strategies.  Communication and coordination of these plans with site management and departments will be key.  Additionally, you will be monitoring and evaluating the implementation and transition of scheduling of these plans with short term planners.

With safety as your core value, you will focus on high quality results and provide direction and guidance to ensure:

  • Generation of reliable, timely and well communicated long-term planning work packages.
  • Produce mine plans with challenging but achievable targets, with transparent risks, possible mitigation measures, and opportunities identified to improve safety and economics.
  • Stakeholder engagement across the site, including Geology, Mine Operations, Process, and Maintenance.

Requirements of the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mine engineering, geological, or geotechnical engineering, or licensee with relevant experience in lieu of degree; and a minimum of four years of relevant mine planning experience.
  • You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

Assets:

  • Experience in a range of mine engineering functions in underground mining, including short-term mine planning and design, production support, ventilation, and ground control.
  • Previous experience in uranium mining, raise boring, long hole stope mining, and NATM will be a strong benefit.
  • High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimization techniques and strong experience in the use of Vulcan software. Knowledge of EPS scheduling software a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and 3D visualization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain a strong communication and influence network with Mine Engineering and Geology peers, Project Managers, mine management, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of unit costing methods for reserve analysis and cash flow analysis through the use financial models.
  • Self-starter and strong communication and facilitation and presentation skills (oral, written, listening)
