Drillers are the front line supervisors at the rig site. They are responsible for ensuring that proper training, safe work practices, and safe operation of the drilling rig is being adhered to. Drillers operate and monitor the essential systems of the drilling rig including: hoisting, well control, mud and power systems found on the drilling rig. Safety is the first priority for all drilling rig personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn and adhere to the Companys Safety Program and government safety regulations
- Support and promote to all employees the Companys Policies, Procedures and Safety Programs
- Ensure safety and support equipment is functioning properly
- Monitor drilling progress and communicate advancements/changes to Rig Manager
- Maintain an up to date record of drilling progress
- Set an example to fellow employees by adhering to all safe work practices and policies. Train new crew members to do the same.
- Assist in moving of rig & all equipment
- Ensure usage of proper safety equipment
- Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner
- Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Class 1 Drivers Licence
- Ability to work safely and plan ahead
- Leadership skills
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Strong communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Mechanical aptitude
