Safety Manager 

Location: Pomona, CA

Earning: $85.000-$90,000 DOE

Position: Full time

Responsibilities

  • The Safety Manager is responsible for the safety, ensuring the needs of the organization and its employees are meet. Assure the effective safety initiatives and programs of the facility to provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees and their activities by using best business practices to manage resources, services and processes to meet the needs of the company.
  • Responsible for designing, directing and administering the safety function in compliance with all federal and state laws.
  • Direct safety programs to provide a safe working environment for employees and visitors; develop safety programs and policies; manage the training of personnel in all areas of safety; and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, federal, state and local environmental regulations.
  • Oversees and executes the implementation of the company’s Safety Policy, objectives, standards, procedures and guidance consistent with company standards and processes to provide a basis for the effective management of and Safety Coordinators.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the entire facility, conduct and document regular facilities inspections ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
  • Compliance to GMP, Food Safety, Food Defense and Food Quality regulations as required by the company, customers and/or government legislations, including timely communication to appropriate facility management of any non-conformity issues or violations found
  • Serves as the primary on-site contact with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies; accompanies inspectors during visits to facilities; communicates results of the inspection to management and recommends changes to ensure conformance to requirements; Maintains OSHA and EPA recordkeeping requirements .

Experience

  • 4-7 years of progressive experience and responsibility with safety and manufacturing experience, food manufacturing environment preferred, with progressive increase in role and responsibility.
  • Experience performing EHS inspections, monitoring and promoting workplace safety, environmental compliance and conducting training.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of applicable EHS regulations and best practice with the ability to practical solutions.
  • Capability to conduct accident investigation and identify unsafe conditions, equipment, and practices
  • “Hands-on" approach to working with employees and management to instill a strong EHS culture.
  • Familiarity of planning and presenting EHS training programs; communicate effectively orally and maintain effective working relationships.
