What Ledcor is Hiring for:

Apprentice or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician 

Location: Fort McMurray at Suncor Base Plant

Project: Industrial oil & gas 

Pay: Competitive Wages + Benefits

Duration: 3-5 years

LOA: $50 per day

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Implementing continuous improvements, and supporting new system installations, production strategies, and plant reliability.
  • Assemble, install, remove, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic mobile equipment components.
  • Must be capable in analyzing conditions, technical troubleshooting through the process, identifying and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform predictive maintenance on equipment to enhance uptime conditions.
  • Completes preventative maintenance and other reliability tasks, assist in diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds of machines, partner with engineering or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling solutions
  • Provide support to PM Mechanics and Maintenance technicians
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on various Hydraulic & Diesel equipment both Marine and Land.
  • Assists & trains employees in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, diesel and pneumatic maintenance and the repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance reporting and other documentation as required
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members
  • Ensuring compliance with all company, client, and legislated safety policies and procedures

Experience 

  • Previous experience on an industrial site is an asset

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear.
  • The employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Competencies

  • Must have demonstrated ability to follow instructions

Pre-employment

  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions:

  • Transportation service available from Fort McMurray to the site
  • Various shift rotations 14 days on /7 days off, 14 days on / 14 days off or 7 days on /7 days off schedule, working 10 to 12 hours per day
  • Benefits provided by CLAC
  • Work will be outdoors under various weather conditions
