What PCL Construction is Hiring for:

700 Pipefitters / Steamfitters for Various Industrial Projects located throughout Alberta.

Remuneration:

  • Base $42.33 per hour as per collective bargaining agreement with trade union
  • Total renumeration as per collective bargaining agreement with trade union
  • $140 Live out allowance and generous travel allowance paid for those who qualify

Work Conditions:

  • 10 on 4 off Shift rotations
  • Day and Night shifts available
  • 10 hours per day/night: 8 hours Regular Time and 2 hours Overtime per day worked
  • Permanent position 40-60 hours a week
  • Two 30-minute breaks (first break paid)

  • Maxim Power - Phase II HRSG 500-581073 Highway 43, NW MD of Greenview No. 16 Grande Cache, AB T0E 0Y0
  • Suncor Firebag Pad 131 Field Construction 885 Memorial Dr, Fort McMurray, AB T9H 0A8
  • Cascade Power Plant 52505 Highway 47, AB T7E 3B9

Job Duties and expectations: 

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
  • Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
  • Select type and size of pipe required
  • Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
  • Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
  • Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
  • Test system for leaks using testing equipment
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
  • May prepare cost estimates for clients.
  • Sprinkler system installers
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and fire codes to determine layout requirements
  • Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools
  • Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe, install sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipe in supports
  • Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment
  • Connect piping system to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
  • Installs valves, alarms and associated equipment
  • Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
  • Service and repair sprinkler system
  • Work at heights
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Pre access Drug and Alcohol testing

Education: 

  • Credentials: Journeyperson Pipefitter, Steamfitter ticket and or holds equivalent trade ticket or recognized credential.
  • Completion of a 4–5-year apprenticeship program or over 5 years work experience in the Pipefitting trades and some Pipefitter education
